Today is Christmas and i have to say its the worst Christmas I have ever had. We are all hungry and tired and we just want to go home. But we are stuck here fighting against Germany because Serbia had to Assassinate the Archduke of Austria-Hungary. Here, if you not fighting, your freezing, and itf your fighting, your dying. When i signed up to fight for my country i never pictured it like this. We dont even have supplies to keep us warm and mose of us dont even have weapons to fight with. Most soldiers are running out of the trenches with knives tied to sticks. well I have to stop writing or else I'll loose my hand from the cold.

I lost one of my close buddies today. We were heading towards the German side and then we started getting fired at. We heard someone yell "retreat" so we turned around and started running to our trenches. I was so consentrated on getting to the trenches that I didnt even look to see if my friend was still running. When I got to the trenches then i realized that he wasnt with me. I yelled is name for so long I almost lost my voice. Then I realized what had to of happened. He had to of been hit. I blame myself. I should of made sure that he was still running to the trenches to safety. But i didnt.. and now hes dead..
